Call for CCPPP Board of Director Candidates

TORONTO ( August 1, 2024) — The Governance Committee of the CCPPP board of directors is calling for submission of expressions of interest of candidates for election to the Board at the CCPPP Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

A Member may submit one expression of interest for a candidate to serve on the Board by email to [email protected] on or before Friday, August 23, 2024.

The Governance Committee:

  1. will consider expressions of interest of candidates submitted by Members, current directors, and others; and
  2. will recommend to the Board a list of nominees for approval by the Board.

We anticipate 30 directors will be elected to the Board at the AGM. Most of the current directors will seek re-election. Some will not seek re-election. We will require some candidates who are not currently directors.

We are particularly interested in increasing the diversity on the Board and increasing representation of Members that have made a significant financial contribution to the activities of CCPPP. Given the current representation on the Board, we are also particularly interested in candidates from the Atlantic provinces, the Prairie provinces, and the Territories and candidates from the public sector.

A director must be a director, employee, officer or partner of an existing or new Member. There are four regular board meetings per year and usually one or two special board meetings per year. Directors are expected to attend all meetings, subject to unforeseen circumstances. Directors are usually expected to serve on a board committee. There are several committee meetings per year. Committee members are expected to attend all committee meetings, subject to unforeseen circumstances. Most of the meetings are virtual. Two of the Board meetings will likely be in person.

The Governance Committee will consider the following in recommending a list of candidates to the Board:

  1. the Board shall reflect the national scope of CCPPP and the geographic distribution of the activities of CCPPP across Canada;
  2. the Board shall reflect a representation of governments and their instrumentalities, Indigenous bodies, and construction, financial and professional sector Members consistent with the activities of CCPPP;
  3. the Board shall reflect a diversity of individuals, and a mix of qualifications and experience consistent with the activities of CCPPP;
  4. the Board shall reflect a representation of senior leaders of Members that have made a significant financial contribution to the activities of CCPPP; and
  5. the Board shall completely rotate, approximately every eight years.

An expression of interest submitted by a Member must include the name of the Member, the name, address and contact info of the candidate, and a brief bio of the candidate (less than 200 words). A Member may indicate any factors that the Governance Committee should consider in considering the candidate. The submission must be accompanied by a consent of the candidate to serve as a director.
