P3 Fundamentals: Delivering Successful Public-Private PartmershipsNovember 27, 2007 Governments in Canada face considerable challenges in keeping up with their infrastructure requirements. Revenue sources are falling short of meeting the need to properly maintain existing assets as well as meet the growing requirement for new facilities. Some governments are using Public-Private Partnerships, better known as P3's, as one approach to assist in addressing this problem. P3 is not a cure-all but it is an approach that taps some of the financing and operational efficiencies of the private sector and combines them with the skills of the public sector through a partnership arrangement. This one-day conference was hosted by The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships with the participation of its public and private member organizations. The sessions led delegates through the A,B,C's of P3 and along the way dispelled many of the common misconceptions in the field. |
